Before you start
There are some basic things one should keep into account before one starts scrapping.
First of all everything that is going to be in direct contact with the pictures
should be ACID and LIGNIN FREE! This includes glue, paper etc. Acid will with time
destroy the pictures.
Scrapbookers usually make albums in one of the following sizes: 12x12 inch, 8x8 inch,
6x6 inch or Lettersize. Choose the size you would like to work with, and get an album
that will fit this size..
In order to get started you will need: pictures, some patterned paper and cardstock
(in the size you have decided to scrap) , glue (there are SO many kinds, just try
some and decide which one suits you – rubber cement, double-sided tape, stick glue,
glue pen, glue dots..), a paper cutter, some letters (rubons, stickers, diecuts,
other…), and a little bit of stash (maybe some ribbon, buttons, brads/eyelets…).
Now you can sit down and start designing you page.
One way to get started, is to either use a sketch to plan your page, or to scraplift
someone else’s layout. One can find sketches on the internet – they help give balance
to a layout. Scraplift, is when you basically copy a ready made layout. Take a look
around on the internet to pick up some great ideas and inspiration.
